Nutritional Support During Your Cancer Journey

Following healthy eating habits before, during, and after your cancer treatment will ensure you maintain your energy and strength and help your immune system fight infection. However, cancer treatments that may cause nausea, vomiting, and other side effects can sideline your attempts to eat healthy. If you have another chronic condition, such as diabetes, you may need to follow a special eating plan to maintain your health.

Registered dietitians specializing in oncology-related concerns help you maintain your health during cancer treatment in the following ways:

Prevent Malnutrition
Before starting cancer treatment, we'll create a personalized plan to minimize your risk of malnutrition.

Provide Nutritional Guidance Before and After Surgery
We provide guidance to improve your nutritional status before surgery. Our goal is to reduce your risk of complications, promote healing, and increase your energy levels after your procedure.

What to Expect

Initial Consultation
Your first appointment with a registered dietitian can occur in person at one of our cancer centers or by telephone. The thorough assessment includes a detailed review of your medical history, current medications, eating habits, appetite or weight changes, and digestive challenges you may experience. Then, we determine your nutritional support needs, such as effective side effect management, and provide tube feeding guidance when needed.
